Yves, the chef and owner of Yves’ Restaurant Bar, has been a figure in Ajijic for more than 20 years. Descended from a French family with strong roots in Mexico, Yves studied hotel management in Grenoble, France, before traveling the world aboard luxury cruise liners. After giving up life on the high seas, he became maître cuisiner, sommelier, executive chef and food and beverage manager of internationally-renowned 5-star hotels.

In addition to working in the best hotels in the world, Yves has successfully opened and operated restaurants in the United States and Mexico. These experiences have inspired Yves’ cuisine – a blend of the very best of international cuisines.

At Home in Ajijic

In 1989, Yves came to visit a family member in Ajijic. He fell in love with the town, the lake, and the people of Ajijic and has lived happily in his adopted home since then. Now officially retired, but still hands-on engaged in every facet of his popular restaurant, Yves continues to live his passions for good food and friendship.

The Salad Bar

Yves’ customers especially enjoy the extensive salad bar that is included with most entrees (and is only half price when you order an appetizer). This is not your ordinary salad bar! It is loaded with fresh vegetables (chosen by Yves the morning they’re presented for your enjoyment) and gourmet toppings and accompaniments, including marinated mushrooms and pickled beets.

Dine al fresco in Yves’ garden dining areas. The soothing sounds of the fountain, the birds and flowers in the garden, and the warm lighting create a lovely setting. The interior dining room is beautifully decorated with works of art, including watercolors of nature painted by the owner’s father.
